Red Flag Warning extended across several sweltering Southern, Central California counties

The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended Red Flag Warnings for several regions in California due to critically dry fuels and low humidity, raising concerns about potential wildfires, especially as the 4th of July holiday approaches.

Los Angeles and Oxnard Regions

In Southern California, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Interstate 5 Corridor, Ventura Mountains, and Southern and Central Santa Barbara Counties.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Friday in Interior San Luis Obispo County and the Cuyama Valley.

Temperatures are expected to climb significantly through the week, reaching 108 to 118 degrees in the mountains and interior valleys by Friday. Coastal valleys will see temperatures between 100 to 110 degrees.

Humidity levels are predicted to fall drastically, with some areas seeing minimum humidity as low as 6%.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be the most extreme days, with high temperatures and low humidity combining to create hazardous fire conditions.

In Southern Santa Barbara County, Sundowner winds will push temperatures into the 90-100 degree range. Overnight lows will remain high, between 75 and 85 degrees, with poor humidity recovery.
