The state has averaged 16,500 new jobs per month in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 1.1%, outpacing last year’s average of 12,900 jobs per month. The unemployment rate remains steady at 5.3%.

A new report highlights California’s economic dominance, with a GDP of $3.9 trillion in 2023, ranking 5th globally. The state leads in sectors like technology, agriculture, and exports, while housing more Fortune 500 companies than any other state. Governor Gavin Newsom credited the state’s workers and innovators for driving this sustained growth.
