Deep Powder Alert Issued for Colorado, Utah, and Oregon

Just like flowers budding in the spring, the first powder alert is a sign that seasons are changing and more importantly– Winter. Is. Coming.

Our friends at Powderchasers are forecasting multiple storms to deliver up to three feet of snow across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West through Sunday, November 3, 2024. See below.

The first storm is bringing moisture and snowfall at elevation across the PNW today, October 28. The system is then expected to drop down towards Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado over the next two days.

Southern Colorado, particularly Wolf Creek Ski Area, is forecasted to receive the most snowfall from the storm. Wolf Creek became the first ski resort to open a chairlift this season on October 22 thanks to a storm that dumped more than two feet of fresh snow. The ski area is open seven days a week, and will surely welcome the additional 12-20 inches of snow forecasted through Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, and Loveland Ski Area will also benefit from the storm with 2-5 inches expected to fall. This should provide a much-needed boost in each of the ski area’s quest to open early.

Here’s a look at potential snowfall totals through the middle of this week, according to Powderchasers:
