Veterans can enter 144 state parks for free on Veterans Day.
The state values the sacrifices made by the nation’s military and their families, said California State Parks Director Armando Quintero in a statement.
“Offering free admission to our beautiful state parks is a small but meaningful way we say ‘thank you’ for their invaluable service,” he said. “We hope our parks will serve as great spaces to find peace, reflection and connection for our nation’s heroes and their families.”
The parks that honor historic military sites or veterans include:
- Angel Island State Park near San Francisco
- William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park in Red Bluff
- Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park in midtown Sacramento
- Fort Tejon State Historic Park along the along the Grapevine section of the Interstate 5 Freeway via the Fort Tejon exit
