California residents have a unique chance to explore the great outdoors on Saturday, Nov. 23, during the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) Free Hunting Day. This event allows eligible participants without a hunting license to join licensed hunters in pursuing game, fostering connections to nature and conservation.
Timed perfectly for Thanksgiving, the day offers an opportunity to bag a wild turkey for the holiday table. “It’s a budget-friendly way to get outdoors and share the values of hunting,” said Krista Modlin of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Participants must complete hunter education, register, and follow guidelines. Registration is available online and through CDFW offices. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity—California’s next Free Hunting Day isn’t until April 2025!
