Texas ranks second in one-way rentals, U-Haul says

Texas ranks second in U-Haul’s annual report tracking one-way rentals. South Carolina claimed the top spot for inbound moves last year, according to U-Haul.

U-Haul highlighted a trend of people leaving traditionally Democratic-led states and relocating to Republican-led states like Texas.

“A lot of that has to do with pro-business and less government control,” U-Haul’s Matt Merrill said.

At the other end of the spectrum, California recorded the largest loss of do-it-yourself movers for the fifth consecutive year, with Massachusetts ranking second to last.
