YUBA CITY, CA – California Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) believes the Democratic supermajority in the state legislature could be at risk in the coming years. Gallagher pointed to Republican gains in 2024, including flipping three legislative seats, as evidence of a potential shift.
“We’re going to keep focusing on issues that matter to Californians,” Gallagher said, citing the rising cost of living, repealing the recent CARB-imposed gas tax, and strengthening public safety through measures like Proposition 36.
Gallagher also highlighted California’s historical voting trends. “Texas was once blue before becoming red. Similarly, California was once more red before turning blue. Change is possible,” he added.
The Assembly leader sees an opportunity for Republicans to build momentum statewide.
