Power outages affect thousands of Coloradans amid snowstorm Saturday

DENVER (KDVR) — As several inches of snow piled up across the state Saturday, thousands of Coloradans were without power.

Poudre Valley REA was experiencing “ sporadic outages ” across northern Colorado due to the winter weather.

About 500 Poudre Valley REA customers were without power as of Saturday evening. Most of the outages affected customers in Boulder County, according to the outage map .

Poudre Valley REA said weather conditions were slowing restoration times, however, power was restored for most customers by 9 p.m. Saturday.

There were also multiple power outages affecting Xcel Energy customers, especially near the Denver metro area and Boulder.

According to Xcel Energy’s outage map , 61 outages affected 2,526 customers as of 9 p.m.

The Yampa Valey Electric Association also reported several outages due to weather in northwest Colorado Saturday. About 800 customers lost power Friday night, but power was restored for many since Saturday afternoon.
