Colorado Opens Its First Drive-Through DMV in Pueblo

Pueblo County introduces a groundbreaking convenience for residents with the opening of Colorado’s first drive-through Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office.

A New Era for DMV Services

Located at the former Vectra Bank site on 1228 Routt Ave., the innovative DMV began operations on Monday, offering a suite of vehicular services without the need for customers to leave their cars. This initiative, spearheaded by Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder Candace Rivera, aims to streamline processes like license plate renewals, tab replacements, temporary permits, and handicap placard applications and renewals.

Unique Services and Accessibility

While the Routt Avenue drive-through does not provide new license plate services—requiring a visit to the main office for such needs—it introduces a 24-hour ballot drop box during election seasons. The drive-through setup allows customers to enter from West Mesa Avenue and exit onto East Evans Avenue after service, facilitating a smooth flow of traffic.
