Colorado declared fifth most educated state in the U.S.

A new study published by WalletHub shows that Colorado is the fifth most educated state in America.

WalletHub is a consumer finance site. The site arrived at its conclusions by comparing all 50 states across 18 metrics that examined the key factors of a well-educated population: Educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races.

According to the study, Colorado finished:

  • 14th for the percentage of high-school diploma holders
  • 1st for the percentage of associate’s degree holders or college-experienced adults
  • 2nd for the percentage of bachelor’s degree holders
  • 8th for the percentage of graduate- or professional-degree holders
  • 1st – Gender Gap in Educational Attainment

Cassandra Happe, an analyst for WalletHub, offered the following context. “Getting a good education doesn’t guarantee high future earnings and better opportunities, but there’s a definite correlation,” she said in a news release. “It’s certainly worth living in one of the most educated states, which offer high-quality learning from childhood all the way through the university level. That’s especially true if you plan to raise children.”
