Tornadic Storms Possible in North Dakota, Severe Weather Watches Stretch From Dakotas to Texas

Severe Thunderstorm Watches Also in Parts of Utah & Colorado

Good evening everyone. Severe weather continues to impact parts of the Upper Midwest, all the way down into parts of northernmost Texas. As forecsted in this morning’s article, energy coming out of the mountain ranges of the West, has finally entered the Upper Midwest & Central Plains, sparking concerns for widespread severe weather.

We also have some rare severe thunderstorms in eastern Utah and Western Colorado in areas that are notoriously dry on average. These storms have a history of flooding rains, frequent cloud-to-ground lighting, strong winds, and large hail. With dry soil on our hands, flooding remains a large concern, especially in areas of New Mexico and parts of Caolorado.

For tonight’s severe weather in the Plains, tornadic activity is a distinct possibility in parts of North Dakota. Elsewhere, severe weather from Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, the Panhandle of Oklahoma, and the Panhandle of Texas, will be capable of damaging winds, frequent lightning, large hail, and also some isolated tornadoes.
