Coloradans pay their bills on time, study shows

Coloradans diligently make payments on their debts, ranking 47th among states most the most delinquent debtors, according to a recent study by WalletHub, a personal finance website.

A separate WalletHub study showed that Aurora and Denver finished 52nd and 92nd, respectively, among 181 cities ranked by the amount of debt consumers carry.

“To highlight the places where people are having the most trouble paying their debts, WalletHub analyzed proprietary user data from the first quarter of 2024 for the 50 states,” according to the study. “In this ranking, WalletHub considered both the percentage of individual tradelines that were delinquent, as well as the percentages of residents’ total loan balances that were delinquent.”

Coloradans are delinquent on about 3.84% of their debt, according to the study. That compares to Mississippi, which has the most delinquent debt in the U.S., at 10.94%. Finishing second and third were Louisiana and Alabama. Finishing in the final three cities after Colorado were Hawaii (4.1%), Washington (3.96%), and Iowa (3.01%).
