Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Developing Across Parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Mexico

Thunderstorms Are Expected to Reach Severe Limits Later This Afternoon & Evening

09/21/24 3:23pm ET

Good afternoon everyone. As expected and forecasted, we are watching heavy showers and thunderstorms developing across parts of eastern Colorado and New Mexico; some of which have now moved out into northern Texas, western Oklahoma, and southwest Kansas.

We are expecting this action to continue to grow and increase in intensity as the day wears on. While we do not have any severe thunderstorm watches at this time, we have seen a few severe thunderstorm warnings throughout the region for localized winds in excess of 50mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrenital rain.

There is a high liklihood that severe thunderstorm watches will be posted in the region this evening for storms capable of very large hail, damaging winds, and the risk of a few tornadoes. Areas of Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri, all need to pay close attention this afternoon and evening.
