State of Colorado bans ghost guns

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ( KREX ) — You might have been hearing the term ghost guns a lot the past couple of weeks, following the shooting death of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Effective Jan. 1, 2024, the State of Colorado banned ghost guns.

Ghost guns are firearms that do not have a traceable feature to them.

President of Colorado Ceasefire Legislative Action Eileen Mccarron says the law now “requires that all receivers or frames for firearms must have a serial number in order for them to be sold transferred or possessed or any action with them.”

It is a misdemeanor to be in possession of a ghost gun without a serial number.

Mccarron says the problem with ‘ghost guns’ lies in enforcement.

“It’s really incumbent upon our sheriffs and our law enforcement people to be inspecting the gun shows.”

Purchasing and media manager for Jerry’s Outdoor Sports Christopher Walker, talked with WesternSlopeNow about ghost guns and expressed his view on 3D-printed guns, like the one used in New York.
