Rise and shine, Delaware.
Welcome to the glorious weekend. Let’s make the most of it together, shall we?
The days of January are waning, which means lots of thing are on the horizon — a Super Bowl, Valentine’s (and Galentine’s) events, Black History Month and much more. And we will inform you about all of it.
Speaking of informing, Patricia Talorico is a master of weaving stories Delawareans will care about. And that’s the case with this moving tribute she wrote about a fixture at a local store who left us this week: Norman Marini, longtime potbellied pig mascot at Veale Road produce market, dies.
Rest in peace, Norman.
We write a lot of animal stories around here, from birdwatching in your backyard to household pets to fa m ous groundhogs. And we’ll bring you a lot more as we approach spring.
Before I move onto the news, I want to remind you that ”The Wizard of Oz” is back in theaters for its 85 th anniversary. No matter how many times I watch that movie, I still cry when Dorothy says to the Scarecrow, “I’m going to miss you most of all.’’
