Del. violent crime rate dips to record low since tracking began in 2008

The rate of violent crime in Delaware is at an all-time low since statistics began to be tracked in 2008, Attorney General Kathy Jennings said Monday. Law enforcement leaders gathered with Jennings as she announced a 40% drop in violent crime in those 16 years. One exception – in 2020 in particular – was gun-related crimes. In that year, homicides and aggravated assaults sharply increased.
