Delaware Unveils New Homeownership Initiatives to Support First-Time and Repeat Buyers

The Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) recently announced the launch of innovative mortgage programs aimed at bolstering homeownership opportunities for both first-time and repeat homebuyers in Delaware. These programs, Welcome Home and Home Again, are part of a strategic effort to make the dream of owning a home a tangible reality for residents of the First State. Coupled with the relaunch of down payment and closing cost assistance programs, DSHA is set to significantly lower the barriers to homeownership, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s housing finance landscape.

Expanding Homeownership Opportunities

The newly introduced Welcome Home program caters exclusively to first-time homebuyers, defining them as individuals who have not owned a home as their primary residence within the past three years. Meanwhile, the Home Again program is designed for those who do not qualify for Welcome Home or are purchasing a home again. Both initiatives are part of the Smart Start Home Loan Program, offering competitive financing options including Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans with discounted rates, some as low as 5.5%.
