Hummus sold at Wegmans is being recalled because it may contain undeclared sesame ingredients, officials said.
Summer Fresh Salads Inc., which operates out of Canada, is recalling its Wegmans Harissa Hummus Topped With Harissa after it was found that packaging of the product did not disclose it contained sesame, according to a statement on the FDA website.
The hummus was sold in select Wegmans stores in Washington D.C., Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2.
No illnesses had been reported in connection with the mislabeled hummus as of Saturday, the FDA said.
The problem was caused by a labeling error, according to officials.
The product comes in a 10.5-ounce clear plastic package with top, side and button labels marked with lot #240239 and #240309 with an expiration date of March 19 and March 26, 2024.
Those who bought the product can return it for a full refund, according to the FDA statement.
