The Delaware Department of Correction (DOC) is hosting a free Citizens Academy in Spring 2024. The program, starting on April 15 in Dover, offers an insight into the operations of Delaware’s largest law enforcement agency. Participants will interact with DOC leaders, officers, and program providers, and meet individuals under DOC supervision.
The Academy includes six weekly sessions from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., starting April 15 and ending May 20. These sessions feature presentations, demonstrations, and tours of a prison, community corrections facility, and Probation and Parole office. The venues include the DOC Administration Building in Dover, Dover Regional Probation and Parole office, James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, and Community Corrections Treatment Center.
Acting Commissioner Terra Taylor invites those interested in learning about prison operations, probation supervision, and the DOC’s role in rehabilitation to apply. The DOC welcomes applicants aged 18 and over, regardless of their experience in corrections or law enforcement.
