Freeze warning issued. Which parts of Delaware should brace for overnight freeze

Freezing weather has arrived in several Mid-Atlantic states, with parts of Delaware soon facing a freeze warning, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

The freeze warning, covering northern, central and southern Delaware, will be in effect Monday from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m., with temperatures expected to dip as low as 30 degrees across the First State.

Weather officials warn that these freezing conditions could damage or kill crops and other vulnerable vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be at risk.

Residents are urged to “take steps now to protect tender plants,” from the cold the National Weather Service said in their Sunday update.

The freeze warning follows a freeze watch issued for New Castle and Kent counties which forecasted a likelihood of widespread freezing temperatures. A freeze warning is triggered when low temperatures endanger plants, crops and sensitive vegetation.
