DOVER — Every other year since 2004, Profundo Bono has produced a musical comedy to raise funds for groups that provide noncriminal legal services to the impoverished of Delaware.
The shows are performed by judges, lawyers and legal professionals from across the state, who take a classic tragic tale and turn it into a production with songs, dances, a live band, a courtroom scene and a happy ending.
Past productions have included “Macbeth: A Family Musical,” “A Tale of Two Cities: The Rock Opera” and “Moby Dick: A Maritime Musicale.”
This year, they will take on Leo Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina” with “Anna Karenina: From Train to Trial” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 16 at the Laird Performing Arts Center at The Tatnall School in Wilmington and at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Education and Humanities Theatre at Delaware State University in Dover.
The performance will be different than previous shows, however. It will be the first not written by the group’s founder, former Delaware Superior Court Judge Robert Young, who passed away in 2021 at age 77.
