Delaware House Democrats, Republicans elect new leaders

DOVER — With just over two months until the start of the next legislative session, both caucuses of the state House of Representatives have selected leadership teams.

When lawmakers return to Dover on Jan. 14, 2025, the House Democrats will be led by Speaker of the House-elect Melissa Minor-Brown of New Castle, Majority Leader Kerri Evelyn Harris of Dover and Majority Whip Ed Osienski of Newark.

On the other side of the aisle, the House Republican caucus will be led by Minority Leader Tim Dukes of Laurel and Minority Whip Jeff Spiegelman of Clayton.

These choices, determined by vote Friday, mark a change in leadership for both parties, in a body that looks much different than it did during the 152nd General Assembly in 2023 and 2024.

During that time, House Democrats were led by Rep. Minor-Brown and Rep. Harris as majority leader and majority whip, respectively. Republicans were headed by the retiring Rep. Mike Ramone of Newark as minority leader and Rep. Lyndon Yearick of Magnolia as minority whip.
