A major snowstorm is forecast to blanket Delaware, according to the National Weather Service.
Snowfall is expected to begin Sunday night and continue through Monday, with rates potentially reaching 1 inch per hour. Sussex County may see the brunt of the storm.
Gov. John Carney activated the Delaware National Guard Sunday to support storm response operations. The Delaware Emergency Management Agency is also activating its Emergency Operations Center in Smyrna and coordinating with agencies statewide as the storm moves in.
Travel is likely to be challenging, with hazardous conditions impacting both the Monday morning and evening commutes. Slippery roads are also expected to affect the Tuesday morning commute.
There were no driving restrictions as of Sunday night.
