1-2 more inches of snow expect Monday night in Kent, Sussex counties

DOVER – The National Weather Service says Kent and Sussex counties can anticipate 1-2 more inches of snow tonight.

Across the lower half of the state, 5-9 inches had been recorded from Dover down to Delmar.

The National Weather Service forecast for Monday night: “Snow likely, mainly before 11 p.m. Areas of blowing snow after 11 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 18. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.”

The Tuesday forecast calls for areas of blowing snow with northwest winds around 15 mph and gusts as high as 35 mph in the Dover area, and more sustained winds in Sussex County. Skies should be sunny, but the high is expected to reach 30 in Dover.

As of 5 p.m. Monday, the Delaware Environmental Observing System reported the following snowfall totals:

Lewes –  9.4 inches

Nassau – 9.3

Ellendale – 9.3

Bridgeville – 9.3

Stockley – 9.2

Seaford – 8.4
