Three Metropolitan Police Department officers have received Lifesaving Medals for their actions. Master Patrol Officer (MPO) Christopher Reisinger, Officer Travis Collins, and Officer Anthony Campanale were honored for saving a colleague who collapsed during a physical training test on October 10, 2023. They quickly responded, performed chest compressions, and used a defibrillator to revive the unconscious officer.
Police Chief Pamela A. Smith praised the officers for their effective use of life-saving techniques. She thanked MPO Reisinger, Officer Collins, and Officer Campanale, noting that their swift response enabled the collapsed officer to return to his family. The Lifesaving Medals were given as a recognition of their actions.
The officer who collapsed is now expected to fully recover after surgery. This incident underscores the value of the training Metropolitan Police Officers receive, including CPR and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care. The department is dedicated to providing its officers with the skills needed to protect and save lives.
