Winter Weather Onslaught in the Mid-Atlantic as Snow and Winds Impact Maryland, DC, Virginia

Winter conditions are expected to hit the Mid-Atlantic with heavy snow and gusty winds from late tonight through Thursday morning. Upslope snow showers will accumulate along the Allegheny Mountains in Maryland and West Virginia, with up to 8 inches of snow possible in higher elevations. Wind gusts could reach 50 mph in these areas, creating hazardous conditions. Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for Garrett County, MD, and parts of West Virginia. Elsewhere, wind advisories are in place for areas including northern Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. A clipper system will bring more snow late in the week, followed by a potent low-pressure system that may bring widespread winter weather Sunday into next week.
