A Lady Lake woman has been arrested on a felony charge after allegedly posing as a courier for a fake bank investigator to scam an elderly couple out of $10,000 in a Lowe’s parking lot.
Alysha B.J. Pettis, 36, is facing a felony charge of grand theft of $10,000 to $50,000 from a person 65 years of age or older.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the scam began on May 30 when a 79-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman received a text message and a phone call regarding an alleged unauthorized Home Depot transaction.
