Florida Is Reportedly Seeing A Huge Influx Of Coyotes This Mating Season: “Astronomical Increase”

From a distance, Floridians might mistake coyotes for a dog or even a wolf. However, it can be important to properly identify one for the safety of one’s pets.

Unfortunately, as Florida becomes more and more developed, coyotes are seeing their habitats and food sources become smaller. This can mean more contact with Floridians.

And some experts say that Florida is seeing an influx of coyotes. Here is why:

Coyotes In Florida: According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, coyotes have been documented in all of Florida’s 67 counties. So they can be found in all areas of the state, and the Commission notes that encounters between coyotes and humans are becoming more common in Florida.

An Increase In Coyote Sightings In The Sunshine State: Joshua Morera, owner of Spartan Wildlife Removal, told Fox 35 that he has recently seen an “astronomical increase” in people who are calling him about coyotes. In his observation, this year’s mating season is “going above and beyond.”

According to The Orlando Sentinel, calls concerning coyotes to The Conservation Commission have doubled over the last four years.
