Almost 10,000 lbs of Deli Meats are Recalled with Contamination Issues

It seems that we have had a lot of issues recently surrounding recalls involving cheese out of California. Now we are seeing a recall out of Florida involving some popular deli meats. I can say I do eat my fair share of sandwiches as I believe they are perfect for so many occasions. If you have had a chance to have a “pubsub” from Publix you may also be in the same conundrum as they may have had some of the products below.

The problem was uncovered when FSIS was contacted and made aware that a sample of the deli meats collected by a state public health partner tested positive for the presence of L. monocytogenes. They were manufactered by Don Novo & Son, a Miami, Fla. establishment who supplies Publix, Winn Dixie, Bravo and other supermarkets. They are now recalling approximately 9,330 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Don Novo had previously implemented the H.A.C.C.P. program to show a commitment to producing safe food and the thorough daily U.S.D.A. inspections to assure their customers the utmost quality and safety standards of the products.
