Heavy Rain Expected to Impact NASCAR Daytona 500 in FL with Storms Starting from Feb 17th – 18th

Across Florida State:

Unsettling weather is expected across Florida this weekend as a system is expected to bring heavy rainfall across the state. This will also likely impact the Daytona 500, being potentially postponed if it has not been already announced due to the anticipated bad weather. Heavy rain over extended periods will make driving very difficult and dangerous, especially concerning racing activities.

Overall Forecast:

Across the upper/mid-levels of the atmosphere, a trough is expected to push through the Deep South, bringing very deep moisture across Florida. At the same time, a cold front is expected to sweep from northwest to southeast across Florida before stalling around extreme southern Florida bringing lift and convection ahead of it. Ahead of the front, warm advection is expected to bring unsettling weather across Florida, starting on Saturday morning, moving from north to south. Due to the deep level of moisture and training of storms over a long period, heavy rainfall is expected across the Florida area.
