In photos: 5 states reel from Hurricane Helene’s destruction

Hurricane Helene’s damage across five southeastern states is still emerging some three days on from it making landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region as a Category 4 storm. The big picture: The storm has killed at least 91 people in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina, where Gov. Roy Cooper said Sunday an “unprecedented tragedy” was unfolding following Helene’s historic rains that required “an unprecedented response.”
