BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – With pro-choice pins fastened and posters in hand, several women, and even some men, participated in the Gulf Coast Women’s March.
They walked the Hathaway Bridge in support of Amendment 4, lifting Florida’s abortion ban.
“We rank 55 in developed countries for dangerous outcomes for pregnant women, and that needs to change. Our focus today is to bring attention to this issue and to fight and march for choice,” Democratic Women’s Club President Laura Sturgis said.

Participants said Florida’s current abortion laws are dangerous, with few exceptions in rape, incest, or life-and-death cases. Pro-choice women said they want the right to their autonomy back.
“I needed to have a hysterectomy, and I was almost 40, and they wouldn’t give it to me because I didn’t have a male to sign off for it. We should all be able to make our own decisions on our own bodies. How can other people make decisions for us as human beings?” Gulf Coast Women’s March Participant Lori Trembley said.
