Heavy Tropical Showers & Thunderstorms Continue Along Louisiana & Mississippi Coast
11/10/24 5:17pm EST
Good afternoon everyone. As expected and forecasted, we are starting to see some tropical scattered showers & thunderstorms coming ashore in south Florida near the Ft. Lauderdale area. This is thanks to an onshore flow as high pressure moves offshore, combined with a weak area of tropical energy.
We expect this action to continue overnight in scattered form, then we should see more scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms coming ashore tomorrow. While we don’t see any widespread severe weather, some of these storms could be locally heavy, with gusty winds, frequent lightning, small hail, torrential rain, and the risk of a few waterspouts possible.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms also continue off of the coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi. This action is more widespread compared to their Florida counterpart, which is all due to our tropical low interacting with a weakening front. Look for locally dangerous marine hazards, with rough seas, strong winds, and the risk of a few waterspouts.
