Fort Lauderdale, FL—Generation Z, often referred to as Gen Z, includes individuals born between 1997 and 2012. This generation is known for its diversity, digital nativity, progressive attitudes, and, most controversially, Work-Life balance mindset. However, despite these perceived strengths, Gen Z faces significant challenges, particularly in Florida.
Gen Z, also known as Zoomers, is the most diverse and tech-savvy generation in U.S. history. In Florida, they comprise approximately 21% of the state’s population, with an estimated 4.3 million individuals aged 10-24, according to the U.S. Census Bureau (2020 estimates). This demographic is characterized by their affinity for social media, entrepreneurial spirit, concerns about social justice and environmental sustainability, and strong Work-Life balance philosophy.
Florida’s Gen Z, the demographic cohort born between 1997 and 2012, is finding it increasingly difficult to gain a foothold in the state.
