More Trucking Troubles In Florida – Four Trucking Company Bankruptcies In Four Months

2023 was a difficult year for trucking in the United States. Specifically, according to Costa Systems, in 2023, 80,000 trucking companies shut down operations. That difficult trend has shown itself in Florida in 2024. In late July of 2024, I wrote about three Florida trucking companies – AB Brothers, A1 Transport Network, and AOG Trucking filing for bankruptcy – as well as layoffs at Averitt Express. And now, four months later, Florida-based Star Transportation and five of its affiliated companies have also filed for bankruptcy.

About Star Transportation PA, Inc.: This company runs its business out of Miami Gardens. According to its website, it has a fleet size of over 200 and it delivers around 28,000 truckloads per year with 400 drivers.

Employees give it 2.2 out of 5 stars on Indeed. Some common complaints were that they don’t care about drivers and they deduct too much pay. That said, some conceded they had new equipment for safety.

The Bankruptcy: In November of 2024, Star Transportation PA Inc., doing business as Star Transportation of Miami filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a Florida court. A day later, five of its affiliated companies also filed.
