Matt Gaetz Lashes Out After Martin Short Zings Him in SNL Monologue: ‘So Out of Touch!’

Saturday Night Live drew the ire of Matt Gaetz (R-FL) when host Martin Short made a crack about the former Florida congressman’s current employment status.

Short hosted the SNL Christmas Show Saturday, when he took a swipe at Gaetz during his monologue.

“We must move this monologue along because I have 10 sketches to get to where I play an elf,” Short said. “Also, I left my Uber driver waiting, and you know how testy Matt Gaetz can get!”

Gaetz — who stepped down from Congress after being chosen by President-elect Donald Trump as Attorney General nominee, then withdrew his name from consideration from that post — posted on social media:

“SNL just called me an Uber driver? As an insult? It is a job held by HONEST & HARD WORKING people. Imagine being so out-of-touch that you insult Uber drivers just to take a swipe at me. Sad!”

Gaetz also posted, “Working people are proud people.”

A House ethics probe and other controversies surrounding Gaetz ultimately caused him to drop out of consideration for the AG spot. Since then, Gaetz has been spotted selling personalized video messages on Cameo, as well as hosting his own podcast.
