The Bulow Woods Trail spans 6.8 miles, enveloped by a canopy of towering oaks. As you traverse this shaded path, keep an eye out for local wildlife, including white-tailed deer and barred owls. The trail culminates at the Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park, where you can explore the remnants of a plantation that was set ablaze by Seminole Indians in 1836 during the Second Seminole War. The original structures, built from coquina, included Florida’s largest sugar mill at the time. Today, the park features an outdoor museum that aims to preserve the ruins and artifacts discovered at the site.
