As it turns out, the recently controversial district attorney in Georgia who is leading the efforts to prosecute Donald Trump has a history of being disqualified due to allegations of political bias in election-related cases.

According to a report from the Daily CallerCandidate, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis faced disqualification in the fall of 2022 when a judge barred her from pursuing a case against Lt. Gov. Burt Jones concerning Mr. Trump’s challenges to the 2020 Georgia presidential election.

During this episode, Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney raised concerns about Ms. Willis’ impartiality, particularly because she had hosted a fundraiser for Charlie Bailey, who was the Democratic opponent of Lt. Gov. Jones in the 2022 lieutenant governor’s race.

Judge McBurney expressed his reservations, stating that any decisions made by the district attorney regarding Senator Jones in connection with the grand jury investigation were inevitably influenced by her involvement in the campaign. The judge emphasized that although Ms. Willis’ donations to the Bailey campaign alone might not compel him to remove her from the case, her extensive and direct campaign-related activities on behalf of Candidate Bailey raised serious questions about her objectivity.
