Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Tuesday announced the deployment of more Georgia National Guard troops to the Texas border with Mexico in support of the “Operation Lone Star” border security mission there.
Kemp sent Georgia National Guard troops to the border for the first time in 2019 and a Kemp spokesperson says dozens of Georgia National Guard troops are there now conducting unmanned aerial surveillance at the Southern Border with Mexico.
The additional troops Georgia will send to Texas in the Spring will help construct a forward command post for the Border Security mission.
The Georga National Guard Troops will join soldiers from Utah, Louisiana and Indiana whose governors also recently announced deployments to the Texas Border with Mexico in support of “Operation Lone Star.”
Texas requested Georgia’s assistance after Governor Kemp visited the Texas Border earlier this month along with other 14 fellow governors.
