Heavy Gusty Showers Possible Across Coastal Sections of Georgia & South Carolina

Good morning everyone. We’re watching a fairly strong cold front sweep through the Northeast & New England region, which will help give us a very quiet & cool workweek; plus help protect us from any tropical systems in the next 7 days. Heavy showers and thunderstorms will slowly depart Long Island and New England, giving us some late sunshine today. Cooler temps prevail tomorrow through Friday, and it’ll remain on the dry side.
The Southeast is another story as our powerful storm begins its approach into Florida. It’s been discussed ad nauseam as far as what to expect for the west coast of Florida, but there’s an aspect that many ignore – severe thunderstorms. Areas such as Orlando, Port St. Lucie, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami, all have the potential to see a severe weather outbreak. Look for numerous strong to severe thunderstorms to impact central and south Florida tomorrow through Thursday.
Expect widespread damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, torrential rain, hail, and the risk for brief tornadoes. As with any landfalling tropical system, tornadoes are one of the biggest issues away from the main action of the storm. In some cases, these brief tornadoes can do just as much damage as the storm itself, but on a localized level.
