Atlanta, GA – Northeast Georgia remains under a Flood Watch as a strong moisture “wedge” holds across the region, bringing heavy rainfall and localized flooding risks. The National Weather Service reports that the wedge, reinforced by ongoing precipitation, has kept moisture levels unusually high for this time of year. Rainfall amounts between 2 to 4 inches are expected across southeastern parts of the state, with localized areas potentially seeing up to 6 inches. The rainfall is expected to ease by midday Thursday.
Looking ahead, lingering tropical moisture will keep cloud cover and occasional showers in the forecast through the weekend, along with unseasonably warm temperatures extending into early next week.
