Georgia DOT awards 23 grants for bridge rehabilitation, resurfacing

In September, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded 23 projects grants for bridge construction, rehabilitation, and resurfacing.

Thirteen resurfacing projects were awarded approximately $76.9 million.

The largest project is valued at approximately $19.4 million. Located in Clayton and Fulton counties, it involves milling and plant mix resurfacing at various locations on I-85/SR 403 and I-285/SR 407.

The second largest project, valued at $10.7 million, will resurface SR 20 in Henry County from east of Avalon Parkway and SR 81 to Lower Woolsey Road.

Two rehabilitation projects were awarded approximately $11.9 million, 9 percent of the allocated funds. The larger of the two project has an estimated value of approximately $7.2 million and will rehabilitate 6.650 miles of concrete in Greene County on I-20/SR 402 from west of SR 44 to SR 15.

Safety projects valued at approximately $4.7 million were awarded 3 percent of the allocated funds. The largest safety projects, valued at $3.3 million, will improve intersections at multiple locations in Decatur, Dougherty, and Thomas counties.
