Popular Supermarket Recall Issued Due to Outbreak Investigation

The ongoing investigation into a potentially dangerous bacteria in our food has expanded again. The problems unfortunately were not limited in scope to just Hawaii, as it expanded to California and we now know Trader Joe’s of Monrovia, CA is recalling certain products containing cheese made by RLF nationwide, as the cheese used to make these products has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. According to the CDC Listeria is a bacteria with potential to cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. In many cases even healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriage and stillbirths among pregnant women.
