Miss Hawaii USA offered Miss USA crown after titleholder stepped down

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Current Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt has announced she’s stepping down from her role as Miss USA. She announced in an Instagram post Monday morning that she’s relinquishing her Miss USA crown, citing mental health in her statement.

Voigt was awarded the prestigious title on September 29, 2023, with the first runner-up being Miss Hawaii USA Savannah Gankiewicz.

The director of the Miss Hawaii USA pageant shared that Gankiewicz was offered the Miss USA role, but there is no word yet if the Maui native has officially accepted the offer.

The last time Miss Hawaii held the USA title was in 1997 when Brook Lee was crowned. In that same year, Lee was also crowned as Miss Universe.

This is the first time a titleholder of Miss USA has relinquished their crown.
