Change in SNAP rules could benefit 13,000+ Hawaii families

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The state is making a change to its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that could make a difference for thousands of Hawaii families. In Hawaii, SNAP is one of the largest welfare programs available to low-income families. Currently, a family of four can receive as much as $1,759 a month in SNAP benefits, commonly known as food stamps.
