HONOLULU – Hawaii is bracing for windy conditions and an elevated fire weather risk as strong trade winds persist into the weekend. The National Weather Service reports that gusty easterly winds, reaching up to 50 mph, will continue to sweep across the islands, particularly affecting Maui County and the Big Island. A Wind Advisory is in place for these regions, with some areas potentially facing even stronger gusts by Saturday, which could trigger a High Wind Warning.
While winds will remain strong, a brief break in the weather is expected Friday, as a patch of dry air moves in, heightening the risk of fire weather conditions statewide. However, increased moisture will return by Saturday, bringing heavier showers that could dampen the windy conditions temporarily.
