HONOLULU (KHON2) — Party City stores in Hawaii will remain open, even as the national chain announced plans to close 850 locations across the country.

The two Oahu-based stores — one on Nimitz Highway and the other in Waikele — are locally owned and operated, making them independent of the New Jersey-based franchise’s decision to shut down a significant portion of its outlets.

In a statement today, the local franchise owner reassured customers that both Hawaii locations will continue to serve the community despite the nationwide closures.
