Kauaʻi County offering grants to combat homelessness

LĪHU‘E, Hawaii (KHON2) — The County of Kauaʻi’s Housing Agency is awarding grants up to $500,000 as a Homeless Program Grant to eligible non-profit agency initiatives, with applications for the grant closing Jan. 31.

The grant aims to provide critical services to those currently experiencing homelessness. The guiding framework of the program is taken from the community engagement sessions for the Five Year Homeless Strategic Plan.

US homelessness up 18% as affordable housing remains out of reach for many people

Priority will be given to proposals that provide the greatest impact while also demonstrating fiscal soundness.

Recipients of the grant will be notified during the week of Feb. 15, with the project funding period being from March 1, 2025 and Feb. 28, 2026.
