POCATELLO — Idaho State University has laid out details for renovations to Reed Gym and the president’s house as well as a litany of other repair projects.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little in 2021 directed the Idaho Department of Administration to write a report on known deferred maintenance projects across the state and identified $900 million in necessary repairs for facilities scattered throughout the Gem State.

The Idaho Legislature has appropriated $550 million to address the states deferred maintenance projects. The state has allocated $90 million dollars for ISU that it will use to help address infrastructure issues along with essential maintenance.

Brian Sagendorf, vice president for operations at Idaho State University, has detailed some of the plans that are in various stages of design and planning. Groundbreaking for many of these projects will begin this year.

Of the $90 million, a significant overhaul of the ISU president’s house comes with a $600,000 price tag, which includes high quality material replacements for doors, windows and shutters, along with new flooring and paint for the interior of the house. Work will also be done on updating the electrical and plumbing infrastructure. Exterior work that includes a new roof, gutter maintenance, exterior painting and concrete work will also be covered in the initial cost along with contractor expenses.
