House Republicans want to let prosecutors seek the death penalty against people charged with lewd conduct with a minor under 12 years old. “There is a deep, dark, dark side of our culture and it’s our job to protect the children,” said the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Bruce Skaug (R-Nampa). “There are times when things are so wicked that retribution is appropriate.”
